Today I attended my very first book festival at the Winnsboro Festival of Books in Winnsboro, Texas! I met many great authors and was honored to be a part of the Children’s Literature Panel along with the very talented Nancy Churnin, Mary Brooke Casad, and Rosie J. Pova. Together, we learned about each other’s books and answered many great questions about the writing process and what it’s like creating stories for children of all ages.

Thanks to Terry Mathews and the Winnsboro Center for the Arts for inviting me and for lunch at the wonderful South African restaurant, Liefie Li Vine. I had a great time, and as I mentioned to all who attended, feel free to shoot any writing questions my way via: ant@masteele.com!

I was delighted to be included as one of the 2012 Top Ten Haute Young Authors at this year’s Tables of Content — an annual fundraiser put on by Colophon Friends of the SMU Libraries. I’ll not only sign books at the event but also meet several amazing authors as well as witness the presentation of the 3rd Annual Literati Award to SMU Professor of English, Marshall Terry.

If interested in attending, please call 214.768.3225 or email cruppi@smu.edu by March 26, 2012.

Proceeds from this event benefit the annual Grants Program sponsored by the Friends of the SMU Libraries which supports the purchase of books, periodicals, electronic resources, and other much-needed equipment and materials for all of the SMU libraries.

Clown Commandos Co-creator Scott McFadden and I met a lot of great people and got the word out about our kickin’ digital comic book app!

I even ran into actress and voice of Disney’s Pocahontas, Irene Bedard. I had worked with Irene back when I worked in Special Effects! I didn’t realize that she was going to be appearing so I went up to say hi when I spotted her. I asked her if she remembered one of the guys who had hung her in a special harness during the making of the mini-series, True Women. She did remember and even asked for a picture. Very cool!

Keep your eye on the ClownBlog this week for more details of our adventure at Austin Comic Con!

We’re not talking about the bad bullies, the ones that pick on you. We’re talking about the good bullies—PIT BULLIES!

My very own pit bull mix, Jahzara, and I are happy to announce that we donated a bunch of signed books to Books for Bullies—a special event to benefit Lilo’s Promise Animal Rescue. The books are signed by me as well as Jahzara—her first autographs!

If you live in New Jersey and are drawn to the lovable, yet often misrepresented Pit Bull, you should definitely attend!
